Assignment #5: Changing the Way You Learn?
Think about your life before iPads, both in and out of the classroom. Has it changed for the better or worse? How so? Give as many specific examples as possible.
It has changed the way I learn because now I can have almost everything in one place. Now I am able to have all my notes on one app. I can look anything up at any time. It is regally cool.
It has change my school life by helping me stay organized and having my calendar right infront of me. Also when I have to write a paper I can just use the iPad.
I definitely feel so much more organized. When I did not have the iPad, I would take hand written notes, which would end up crumpled, torn, or misplaced in the wrong section. With the iPad I use smart note, and therefore all my notes are in their appropriate sections. I ca always find what I need. The iPad makes homework and projects easy for me too. Recently for my group science project, we used a really cool animation app on the iPad called DoInk to make a video. I think the iPad has affected me in a very good way!
Before I had my ipad, I mainly used my computer. Towards the end of last year, I brought my computer to school a lot to do things like take notes and work on projects. However, the computer was heavy and not nearly as fast as my iPad. One of my favorite uses for my iPad is for quickly looking up something in class. For example, if we are talking about something in literature class and we don't know the full information, such as a historical event, I just whip out my iPad and look it up really quickly.
I also love using my iPad as a planner. Before, I had a paper planner, which could be hard to use. Now, with iStudiez Pro, I can add all my instructors and quickly add assignments with due dates. It's really easy to use and has helped me a lot.
For notetaking, I barely take any handwritten notes except for science (because I frequently have to draw things and I'm not great at handwriting on the iPad). I love having things like math notes on the iPad: they're super easy to access quickly in class and I'm much faster at typing notes than handwriting.
Finally, I worked with Sonali on the project that she mentioned in which we used DoInk to make an animation on the iPad. This was an amazing experience, something that would have been very hard to replicate on a computer. We were able to draw right on the screen to make our animation versus using a mouse and keyboard. I love my iPad!
The iPad has changed the way I've learned because you can have all your stuff on it. You can have all your school apps on there and if you need to study, you could either download the app or you could open it. The iPad helps me be organized, which I think is great.
The iPad has changed the way that I take notes. Now, with the iPad, I can take notes faster because I can type them, and I can keep my notes more organized because they are all in one place.
Before the iPad, my life in and out of the classroom was not as simple or organized. With the iPad, i can do interenet searches, multitasks, and complete writing assignments much quicker because the iPad is so accessible! I take it practically whereever i go, so when i have nothing to do, i can pull it out to finish a lwriting assignment. The iPad to me is really just a laptop, made more effiietiently. I do research quicker, instead of bookmarking wedpages, i can add webpages onto my homescreen which makes it so much easier to find and go back to. I have college webpages and teachers' pages on my iPad that i can easily pull up. The iPad has made keeping track of information easier. I also use it as an alarm clock and my weather reporter. Before, i had to use my cellphone as an alarm clock which was unreliable and had to check my laptop for the weather. All my notes and some of my reading assignments are organized on the iPad. In general, it has made my life easier.
Now that I have the iPad, it makes doing schoolwork easier because I can basically do everything that I need to do on the iPad. If I need to look up something for a paper, or if I don't understand a term in Biology, it's really easy to google the definition. I like having the iPad because everything is in one place- email, photos, writing assignments, internet, schedule organizer. The iPad is also easier to use than a laptop because navigating is easier. Before I had the iPad, I used my laptop for school work, which worked fine, but on the iPad I can take notes in class easier than I can on a laptop. The iPad has centralized and neatened up my life.
The iPad has me in many ways. Before I used an iPad, I used a Mac computer, which took a long time to load. The time the iPad takes to load is a lot faster than the Mac computer. This helps me get work done faster so I can manage my time better.
Now that I have keynote, numbers, pages, etc on my iPad, I can do anything from making graphs to constructing power points.
Because the iPad can hold podcasts, I can download podcasts of as many languages as I want. Right now, I have downloaded French and Spanish from coffee break.
The iPad helps me because it allows me to mke quality work on the go. This allows me to do some of my homework between classes, mostly any writing or research work. With pages and multiple note taking applications, I can easily take notes or write papers easily. It also allows me to not have to lug around my math book, as for I put it on my iPad.
The iPad has affected my learning in a mostly positive way. It helps me stay organized by being able to type everything up instead of just handwriting it. It's also great because it allowes me to work on homework wherever I am. For instance, in aftercare I can type things which is great. The one negative thing I would say, is that some people fiddle around with them in class, which can be very distracting. Other than that it is incredibly helpful.
It has changed my life because the iPad is more efficient with time it helps me with studying and note taking. Before I had an iPad to use I had to waste time turning on the computer and waiting for it to load up everything, and on top of that the Internet access could be slow. With the iPad everything is more convenient and helpful.
The iPad has affected my learning in a positive way. Being able to travel with the iPad helps me to do work in aftercare and on the road, therefore I can easily stay on top of getting my homework done and making sure I know when it's done by useing the helpful apps and reminders on the iPad.
Before I had an Ipad, my work was very hard to keep organized. I had many sheets of paper of things I would use for notes, or any assignment I had to do on paper. Now I have an Ipad. I am able to have many notes without briefing my writing, so that I wouldn't have to have a sore hand afterwards. I am able to get to everything instantly on my Ipad. If I forget something I have no worries, because I always have my Ipad with me for all periods, because it's very small and light to carry around.
My iPad has changed my life in many ways. Now I can look up anything on the internet without having to go to a computer. I can type a report wherever I go. Now I don't have to carry a planner or notes because they are on my iPad. I think it has changed my life for the better. I was drawing a picture for poetry in class and I needed to see a picture of a ww2 wagon. All I had to do was look it up on my iPad!
Before the iPad I was much less organized and stressed about school. When I got the iPad, a whole layer of stress was taken off. Without the iPad I would have to take notes by hand, but because I hate writing, I would barely ever take notes at all. When I did take notes they were always sloppy unorganized and I could barely even read my hand writing. Another thing that happen to my small collection of notes is that they would end up torn, crumpled and lost because I didn't have a good binder system. When I started taking notes on the iPad, my life got easier. I actually took notes, I know where my notes are, and all of my notes are in the same place. Another thing is that it is really useful to be able to carry everything with me every where I go. It is so much easier to bring my iPad to school then it is to bring my laptop to school. It weighs so much less, and is significantly smaller.
Before I used this iPad, I used a pencil, a paper, and my computer at home... But since I didn't bring my computer to school, I just used my binder to keep everything in...(which was a pain) When I heard that we could write an assignment to have an iPad for 1 year, I signed right up and wrote an essay. I'm so glad I got it, because being in junior high now and everything, I need to be super organized. A binder doesn't help that much. I always have a million papers in the front pocket, and then every week I have to file it... Also, having the iPad doesn't waste paper (unless you have to print something obviously) I can just write my assignments on my calendar that are due. But hopefully I will get an iPad next year, and I will be able to be organized better, and by then I will be used to it.
The iPad has helped so much, I feel a lot more organized because I have almost everything in one place. I am really not an organized person so this helps a lot. One thing I wish I was using the iPad more for is as a planner, 8 thought would end up using it a lot more than I did. One of the things the iPad is really good for is if we are having some kind of debate or something in class then you can look up the answer really quickly like today in math we started talking about how long it took the suns light to get to earth and someone said 8 minutes and someone said 8 seconds. Then somebody quickly looked it up on the iPad and found out it was 8.1 minutes or something.
Having an iPad has changed the way I learn so much that I can hardely imagine going through the school day without it. I used it to take notes in almost every subject, and have scanned some of my handouts into it. Also, a huge way it has helped me stay organized is by having my planner on it. One of the best things is that it makes me more efficient: before school, I can work on my lit paper, when we have extra time in math class I can study flashcards for science even though i don't have me science binder with me, and instead of having to handwrite stuff in class only and then type it when I get home, I can skip the step and type it from the beginning.
I feel so much more organized in class. Whenever I need to have a paper that wrote fir an assignment I can just keep them all on the iPad, on the pages app. It's so much easier to just pull up the pages app and open up all my schoo, papers. It's also much easier because I don't have to print the assignments out, I can just email them tobmy teachers.
I find the iPad to be a very intuitive learning device, and therefore more interesting than traditional learning methods. I enjoy taking notes on the iPad, because it allows me to combine handwritten and typed notes in ways that I couldn't before. I can type my notes faster, so they are more detailed and easier to understand later. Using Noterize, I like to add audio and pictures to my notes, which make them more interesting as I create them and later as I review. The iPad helps me keep notes and assignments organized as well. I have most of what I need for class at hand just by having my iPad with me. I have notes, syllabi, and answers to any question via the Internet. While in many ways the iPad is a more convenient laptop, it also does many things that are very difficult on computers. I love using interactive apps to enhance learning, about anything from the periodic table to the Constitution. I also love to draw, but I've never been able to design with computer programs. With drawing apps on the iPad, I can design logs and other graphics digitally as easily as I could with pencil and paper. This has been very helpful on my robotics team. Overall. I think it is the interactive interface that makes the iPad such a fun learning device. It's convenient, so even the busiest student finds time to get everything done. Plus, doing even the simplest tasks is more interesting. And with the variety of apps out there, many functions of the iPad go far beyond the simplest tasks. I enjoy my work and my classes more by having the iPad at my fingertips, which has definitely changed how I learn.
For me, it has completely changed how I learned. I am able to learn much quicker and be able to keep all my notes within the iPad. The availability of using the iPad for work on the bus really gives me a chance to do homework on the sometimes 2 hour long ride back home. Only thing I would say is the organization. Organization on the iPad is very helpful, but I mean for the papers and handouts i get back from the teachers. I usually would think I don't need to take a binder since I have the iPad, but then I don't have anywhere to put the loose papers. Just got to keep a reminder to carry an extra folder for those papers. But overall this is a change for the better.
iPads have really helped me stay organized and keep up with my homework better. It is very accessible and I can keep everything in one place. As opposed to having different files or projects on three or four different computers. I can have it in class and be working on a project or making a presentation. Right now I an keeping all of my notes on my iPad for all of my class and it organizes them so I always know where they are. The iPad is definetly a useful tool.
The iPad has changed the way I do HW and take notes in some classes. Taking notes in history on the iPad is really helpful, and I also like using it to make flashcards. It keeps more organized than before also. I don't use it in all my classes, but that is because some i I find it difficult to use in. The iPad has definately changed the way I do school work, and I really like using it!
Before the iPad I wrote all my notes by hand and I would get hand cramps. Now I can type, draw, and record all at the same time. The iPad .has really changed how I do homework, notes, and classwork. I love the iPad and now some of my teachers ask about it when it's not obvious I have it with me.
Before the iPad I wrote all of my notes by hand and it takes so long. I can also just check stuff on the Internet in any class if there is something on the class website or on online dictionaries if I don't understand a word
Before the iPad I had to keep every thing on a flash drive so I could work on it at school and at home. Now I just keep all of my writting on my iPad. Also I can take down notes much quicker than other students because I am a fast typer, I find that helpful. Also in science when I need to research something I don't have to use one of the Netbooks. I don't like the Netbooks. I like having easy acess to the internet. The other day in lit my teacher was trying to explain a painting to us, but I had my iPad with me so I showed everyone. It also helps at home because my parents and little sister use the computer a lot. I also like not having to lug around my math textbook.
I really don't think that the iPad is helpful to me in class. I really dislilked trying to use it for note taking.. It began to get frustrating in classes because it was hard to type on. While it may of been helpful for Spanish to look up words on word reference easily, otherwise I don't like using my iPad. In physics it is especially frustrating because the technology slowed me down and was harder to take notes on. I tried using it in lit class, but I couldnt annotate on any of the book apps I tried.
The iPad has really helped me in history class. I've always had trouble with organization, but now I have a single running Pages document where I keep all my notes. I do find it challenging to keep track of handouts because I rarely automatically bring out my binder when i'm using my iPad, although that hasn't been a huge issue yet. History is really the only class where I consistently use my iPad -- math just doesn't work out; being the forensics teaching assistant, I use the iPad to research sometimes, but not often; art class I may try to use an iPad as an experimental medium for a model piece; french... i can't type in french...; and lit (in which, it turns out, i can use my iPad) i rarely take notes outside of my book, and i like writing on the pages, even though being able to search my notes would be wonderful, i already bought all my school books.
The iPad has made life a little easier and more convenient. Everything I need for school can be found on the iPad and much more. I can use my history web site and look up words in lit wit the dictionary.com app. I use pages the most and having all my documents on a personal device without having to share with anyone in my family is much easier. If I need to refer to something I've written during class or have some extra time in a class for work, everything's right there for me. Having an easy, hands-on device with access to all types of educational resources has been the best part of having an iPad
Most people say that junior year is the hardest one in high school. I disagree - this year has been pretty good for me so far. I am not saying at all that my iPad changed my learning habits and is getting me better grades, but, I do think that it has really helped me organize myself and helped in a lot of ways. I use the simple, built in app Notes. Everyday in class when the teacher says what homework we have to do, I whip out my iPad (if it's not already out) and write it down. One thing that really messed me up last year was not remembering/not writing down the assignments, so I couldn't do them. I didn't like taking my planner out, but now since I carry my iPad everywhere, I don't have that problem. It has also helped by giving me some fantastic apps. One of my favorites is called Flashcardlet. It gives me electronic flashcards that I can share on quizlet, and share with my friends over email. It helps me keep track of all of my flashcards, and I don't have to carry them all around and lose track of a few random cards from each set.
my life has changed alot since i got my ipad. for one thing, i feel like i have gotten alot more organized. i think that my freinds see me in a more positive way since i am able to keep up with my stuff and i am more engaged because of it. i keep most of my assignments on my ipad, and i think that i can work hard to make sure that i do my math homework.
After receiving my iPad, my life seems to have become more organized and productive. But I can't help but feel like my iPad has also made my life much busier. The iPad doesn't distract me from my schoolwork or my hobbies; it almost always makes these tasks easier to complete. But I feel that my iPad tends to distract me from my thoughts. Having the iPad has shortened the time I spend giving my brain a break. Daydreaming used to be an effective way to temporarily relieve my mind of all the various and increasing stimuli that relentlessly fight for our attention throughout the day. Now, however, as soon as my mind ever starts to drift off — I wonder what that little square pocket on the right side of my blue jeans is for? — I realize that the answer to my thought can easily be googled, calculated, or otherwise searched for on my iPad. (Apparently, they're designed to hold pocket watches.) With the iPad around, I never fully relax. There's always something new to learn; why not look it up on my iPad? At the time that this happens, it's not much of a problem. In fact, it's wonderful to have all the world's knowledge in my backpack. But the residual effects of the iPad's constant call for attention are noticeable and worrisome. I feel like the iPad, along with the other smart mobile devices I use, distracts me from much-need down time and gives me a false sense of being constantly busy. Do the iPad's benefits outweigh this issue? I think so. I would agree with most of the previous comments on this thread. But I thought I would provide a different perspective, as I think it's something to consider.
Since I received the iPad from the school I feel like my note taking has become much more organized. I have never been one to have an organized notebook, and I have had trouble finding pages of my notes in past years. Having all of my notes on my iPad forces me to be organized. In past years as a high school student I have brought my MacBook from home or borrowed one from technology to take notes on, and I like it, but if not done consistently this makes one's situation worse. Not having all of your notes in one place is a problem. I feel that the iPad is beneficial to a well organized person as well. I see it happen all the time to the most organized of students: "can I go to my locker I brought the wrong binder. I only need one binder, and it's my iPad, I have it with me in all my classes. All of my notes are in one place, and I can insert pictures of my handouts and place them right into my notes with "notability." It is also quite convenient when other people have IPads. I was sick so I missed a day of class, as soon as I sat down another kid with an iPad had copied there notes for the previous day and e-mailed them to me, which is way better than attempting to listen to the teacher teach that day when you are behind, while trying to copy down a bunch of someone else's hand written notes that you cannot read. The iPad brings simplicity and power together. I can do things on the iPad that I can't do on a computer. For instance, when I am taking notes in math and science, and I need to have formulas, I just pinch in with my finder, click the pen button, and draw whatever I want. I do the same thing if not more in physics. Martin will draw complex pictures, and I can copy them down right in my notes with ease. You certainly can't do that on a Mac with Microsoft Word. So in closing, yes. My life as a note taker has improved with the iPad. The use of the iPad as an educational tool in ingenious, because it is just like the toys many of us use every day(iPhone and iPod Touch.) you don't need to teach a majority of people how to use an iPad, they already know how, and if they dont know how, one of their friends does. The iPad has definitely changed my life for the better. Before the iPad, my notes were extremely messy and hard to follow after I had written them, also it was harder to pay attention to the teacher and take notes before. Now, my notes are extremely organized, especially the ones I take in bio, because of the apps I use like noterize and it's so much easier for me to review and follow my notes, and it's so much easier and quicker to take notes on the iPad so I'm much better at paying attention and taking notes. Also, because of the iPad's accessibility, I've been able to work on papers at school and places that aren't home and when no computers are available, so I've found so much more time to do them. In addition, I've become a whole lot more organized, thanks to things like the mail app and calendars that are really easy to use on the iPad. The iPad has made it so that I can utilize resources like teacher's pages at school when there's information that isn't completely clear or something I might want to look up before I would've been lazy and skipped searching it or forgotten, but with the I can do it right then which really helps. There's many more examples, these are just a few, of how the iPad has changed my life for the better, as it completely has.
Definitely my IPad has changed for the better. One of the many reasons is History. John is a huge history fan and by the end of the first semester I ended up collecting near 50 pages of notes. Just imagine carrying all of that in a binder! I would've needed a huge binder that would take up so much backpack room it would be ridiculous. Instead I have an iPad where I can just scroll up and down, viewing my notes without taking up any room at all.
It has changed the way I learn because now I can have almost everything in one place. Now I am able to have all my notes on one app. I can look anything up at any time. It is regally cool.

ReplyDeleteI find the iPad to be a very intuitive learning device, and therefore more interesting than traditional learning methods.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it has completely changed how I learned.
ReplyDeleteiPads have really helped me stay organized and keep up with my homework better.
ReplyDeleteThe iPad has changed the way I do HW and take notes in some classes. Taking notes in history on the iPad is really helpful, and I also like using it to make flashcards. It keeps more organized than before also. I don't use it in all my classes, but that is because some i I find it difficult to use in. The iPad has definately changed the way I do school work, and I really like using it!
ReplyDeleteBefore the iPad I wrote all my notes by hand and I would get hand cramps. Now I can type, draw, and record all at the same time. The iPad .has really changed how I do homework, notes, and classwork. I love the iPad and now some of my teachers ask about it when it's not obvious I have it with me.
ReplyDeleteBefore the iPad I wrote all of my notes by hand and it takes so long. I can also just check stuff on the Internet in any class if there is something on the class website or on online dictionaries if I don't understand a word
ReplyDeleteBefore the iPad I had to keep every thing on a flash drive so I could work on it at school and at home.
ReplyDeletealso when the computers in my class are being used I can use my iPad and that is really helpful.
ReplyDeleteI really don't think that the iPad is helpful to me in class.
ReplyDeleteThe iPad has really helped me in history class.
ReplyDeleteThe iPad has made life a little easier and more convenient.
ReplyDeleteMost people say that junior year is the hardest one in high school.
ReplyDeletemy life has changed alot since i got my ipad. for one thing, i feel like i have gotten alot more organized. i think that my freinds see me in a more positive way since i am able to keep up with my stuff and i am more engaged because of it. i keep most of my assignments on my ipad, and i think that i can work hard to make sure that i do my math homework.
ReplyDeleteAfter receiving my iPad, my life seems to have become more organized and productive.
ReplyDeleteDaydreaming used to be an effective way to temporarily relieve my mind of all the various and increasing stimuli that relentlessly fight for our attention throughout the day.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely my IPad has changed for the better.
